About This Blog
At Operand, we design and develop interactive experiences for a living. We have a somewhat unique view of what interactivity means. In brief, we think it's bigger and more expansive than most other people seem to. We define six levels of interactivity and blog about art, architecture, advertising, exhibits, and other innovations that elevate interactivity.

Emotional Cities
This Collective experience allows the community of Stockholm to express their feelings through a website where people choose one of 7 emotional levels. The data is aggregated and the cumulative daily status is visual shared by projecting colors on to the side of a prominent building. This allows the entire community to be exposed to the Observation element of the experience even if they did not partake in the voting.
Interactive buildings (which can include large LED signs, lighting or projection technology) is a form of interactive experiences which is increasing in popularity. Since architecture is a reflection of the humans who embody the space, creating a layer where the structure can react to its occupants is a nature extension of the art form. Stay tuned for more posts on this area of interactivity.
